| Scottie's 84 BMW 745i
This is a gray market factory turbo limousine that was brought into the US around 1989. This factory special turbo pretty much features the standard BMW big six, but it has been outfitted with some factory changes like hardened rods and so forth. The turbo: stock ratings are 245 horsepower at 6 lbs.
Interior: They do not makes car interiors like this anymore! Burled wood everywhere. Water buffalo leather extends beyond the seats and dashboards, up the door panels and into the b pillars! All four seats are heated, and power adjustable (yes even the rears). The drivers seat has memory of course. All four seats are heated. The rear seats have power recline and there is a passenger control console in the rear arm rest that features a Bekker radio control module and a controller to move the passenger front seat out of the way if it is getting in the way of you stretching out your legs whist you read the paper on the way to Munich at the factory rated top speed of 146mph. Modifcations so far? Currently I am running 13 lbs of boost. Estimated power output is 375hp. Tuomo chip installed. I am running a Dawes Devices before the turbo computer to fool it into thinking I am always running at 9lbs. Jon Jacobs has modified my waste gate so that I can adjust the spring pressure. There is no top speed rating yet on this machine...at least not in this country! I have had the car to 160 out in the CA desert (I5) and it was still pulling very strong. Not too many places in the US where you can drive that fast. I have restored the car with original euro bumpers and lamps. I have installed a VDO boost gauge on the dash as you can see. I also have an air/fuel mixture meter in the glove box to monitor fuel delivery. I am running a Cartech fuel pressure regulator to deliver the added enrichment at high boost levels. Note to self: when driving at 13+ psi, wear briefs, not boxers. In the suspension dept, I am running Bilstein HDs all around. I have stock springs. I purchased new springs for the rear. The ride is great! I have replaced all of the front suspension arms and joints. The 745i came stock with massive brakes. Four pistons calipers up front with nearly 1" vented discs. Massive rear disks. Current wheels are 17" x 9" 3-pc BBS. Tires are 245/50 all around. |

And a shot of my silver '85 535i -- that's my neighbor's e28 in the background.
