DINAN E28 M5 |

When I was in college, I had a Pirelli Tire poster
with a black
BMW M5 floating off the ground. A yellow light emanated from beneath the
chassis. This was my dream car. My '74 '02 would have to suffice for a while
longer... Some dreams do come true... Here is a description of the car. This is a show quality car which was chosen by Dinan to be on display at their 25th Anniversary event as a rare representative sample of the 1988 E28 M5. In 1992, the car was sent to Dinan for suspension and motor modifications. Countless dollars were spent. Suspension:
Other Modifications:
History: California car. Never in an accident. Original Schwartz paint is very good and has buffed out brilliantly. The leather is original (not re-dyed) and in very good shape. Alpine Stereo with aftermarket speakers. Car was returned from lease. 2nd owner had Dinan fit a stage 4 suspension, chip, exhaust gear, strut bar. I am the 3rd owner. The chassis has 106k miles. No rust anywhere. Stored indoors in sunny San Jose CA . Rare factory black-out tinted windows (all five). Engine In March 2004, I installed an M88 motor. The M88 motor is the European version of the S38 motor. It has 10.5:1 compression and puts out more power than the US version. The seller of this engine had purchased the motor with about 70k. It was then done over by Michelangelo Motor Works (new gaskets, dual row chain conversion, pumps and sprockets, valve adjustment, etc.) and shipped to San Francisco where the motor was installed with a new clutch and new motor mounts. The conversion is made neat and complete with a factory Euro Motronic ECU and the original factory European engine wiring harness. I have about 1500 miles on the new motor. If you are researching the history of this car with Dinan (documented), note that Dinan exhaust gear and chip were removed from the car with the M88 conversion. Current power output is estimated to be just over 320hp.
